About Benjamín López

Benjamín (Benji) López is a director and screenwriter. He was born in East Chicago, Indiana to Puerto Rican parents. Before starting his filmmaking career, he was a musician serving as the singer of the band Taba Co for several years. Years after graduating from college, a project he had worked on prompted him to start his career as a director. This translated into his first film, Taínos: La Ultima Tribu. After that, López became known for directing the trilogy of Mi Verano con Amanda.
