The fear is real — disappearances, a hostile other place, people who treat children as equipment — but the show keeps handing the story back to a group of friends who refuse to split up the way the plot wants them to. That ensemble warmth is the difference from FROM, which is about strangers who cannot leave and do not trust the dark, and from Dark, which asks you to track a family tree instead of a bike chase. Tone moves. Early hours are adventure with teeth. Later seasons are larger, louder, and more interested in the siege than in the suburban secret. Because the series has ended, you can watch the whole arc without a pending season, which is useful if unfinished puzzles have burned you. Pacing is bingeable and sentimental in a way the bleaker shows here are not. If you want the gothic joke version of a supernatural school mystery, Wednesday is the closer mood. If you want the games and the empty city, Alice in Borderland is harsher and complete in a different way. Start Stranger Things at season one even if you have seen the memes.
