Official synopsis
A missing child sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers as they unearth a mind-bending mystery that spans three generations.
GoMovie editorial summary
Dark begins as a missing-child case in a German town and becomes an intergenerational time-travel puzzle. Four families, a cave, a nuclear plant, and a knot of cause and effect keep folding back on one another across decades. The show is finished: three seasons, ending in 2020, with the story closed on purpose. It suits patient viewers who like taking notes, family secrets, and science fiction that treats a timeline as a moral problem. The original language is German. GoMovie does not stream it.
Why Watch This Series?
Dark is the series to choose when you want a mystery that is difficult on purpose and finished on purpose. The first episodes look like a small-town disappearance. They are also a map. Every later reveal depends on who is related to whom, and on the uncomfortable idea that trying to prevent a tragedy may be how the tragedy was built. That cause-and-effect structure is the pleasure and the homework. The tone is gloomy, romantic in a doomed way, and almost never comic. Pacing is slow until the pattern clicks, then relentless. Because the series ended with season three in 2020, you can watch it without waiting for a renewal or guessing which threads were abandoned. That is the practical difference from 1899, Severance, or Silo. It is also denser than most “mind-bending” recommendations: if you want mood without a family tree, Severance is the cleaner watch. If you want the trapped-town dread without the timeline chart, FROM is closer. Give Dark your full attention, preferably with the family relationships in mind, and do not be embarrassed about pausing to remember who someone grows up to be. The show respects that effort by actually paying it off.
What to Expect
A completed, high-complexity puzzle with layered timelines and very little humor. Best for viewers who like family secrets, bleak atmosphere, and an ending that resolves the mechanism instead of teasing a next season.
